Want to Join the D15 Web Team?

If you have the desire to help the District, and have web skills (or a desire to develop web skills) you’ve come to the right page.

District 15 as an Enterprise

If we consider District 15 as an enterprise, we have a membership of approximately 3,300 distributed over 5 states. Just like any other geographically diverse organization of similar size, this presents some challenges for the folks who support the Information technology infrastructure. Moreso, it is even more challenging because we won’t pay you.

Like any other all-volunteer organization, we need goodn folks to step up and accept the challenge of getting things done simply because it’s for the good of the organiation as a whole. Sure, there is the benefit of gaining great experience and of learning some real-world web-slinging skills, but the pay is less than a handful of Fannie-Mae stock options. We are not in it for the pay, but for the better benefits.

If you have experience in HTML/XHTML, PHP, MySQL, XML, eMail Management, and you want to be a part of the team that supports the IT infrastructure for District 15, we want you. If you lack the experience but want to learn, we want you. Toastmasters is a safe place to learn, and the D15 Web team is no exception. Contact the D15 Web Lead to discuss how you can be a part of the team.

The District 15 web site is built entirely with W3C standards-compliant XHTML, CSS and PHP, along with a healthy dose of MySQL as the database engine. All of the tools used for the site are open source and open standards, freely available for reuse and study. We’re not looking to push ideology, just to make things easier for 3,300 Toastmasters in District 15.
